A plain-English guide to your Hartley DSP account

What We Store

The only identifying information we store is your email address.

We don't collect your name, address, phone number, or payment details. When you buy something, our payment processor handles all of that separately.

We will record your activity within your account, such as:

  • Mailing list subscriptions
  • Beta testing participation
  • Feedback you've submitted
  • Products you've downloaded and activated
  • Purchases you've made

We keep this essential information to provide the products and services you have asked for.

Your Account and Roles

Your account can have different roles depending on how you've interacted with us:

Mailing List Subscriber

You've opted in to receive occasional emails: product news, beta opportunities, offers. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email or through your account preferences.

Beta Tester

You've joined our beta programme. This gives you access to unreleased software and the ability to submit feedback. Your testing contributions may earn you discounts or free access to final releases.

Customer

You've purchased a product. Your license is permanent for the version you bought. Without needing separate consent, we'll:

  • Email you about important updates, such as:
  • Security fixes
  • Critical bug fixes
  • Significant improvements included in your licence
  • Verify your identity when you contact support

That's part of the deal.

You might have one role, or all three. They're independent.

What Emails You'll Receive

Always (no opt-in needed)

These typically include things like:

  • Account verification
  • Password resets
  • Purchase confirmations
  • Security notices
  • Critical product updates
  • Customer support responses

With Your Consent

For example:

  • Newsletter and announcements
  • Promotional offers
  • Beta testing invitations

You control marketing emails through your account preferences or the unsubscribe link.

Signing Up vs Creating an Account

Mailing list only: Just enter your email. We'll create a basic account to manage your subscription. No password needed — you'll receive emails with preference links.

Full account: Register with email and password. This gives you access to the beta programme, your account dashboard, and (eventually) license management for purchased products.

Already on the list? You can upgrade to a full account anytime by setting a password. Your subscription and any roles carry over.

What Happens When You Buy

Note: Full product purchase is not currently available. When it is, purchases will be handled by a third party payment processor. They handle the money, VAT, and billing details.

What we receive:

  • Your email
  • What you bought
  • Transaction reference

What we don't receive:

  • Card numbers
  • Billing address
  • Other payment details

If you've never had an account with us, we'll create one automatically using the email from your purchase. You'll get an email inviting you to set a password if you want dashboard access.

Managing Your Preferences

If you have a password: Log in and visit Account → Preferences.

If you're mailing-list only: Use the links in any email we send. They're personalised and don't require a password.

Deleting Your Data

Email us at support@hartleydsp.com. We'll delete your account and data, with two exceptions:

  • Purchase records (legal requirement — we keep these indefinitely)
  • Suppression list (we keep your email on a "do not contact" list so we don't accidentally re-add you)
